What are Gastro-Intestinal Cancers?
Causes of Gastro-Intestinal Cancers :
Dietary Factors: High consumption of red/processed meat, low fiber intake, and poor nutrition.
Smoking and Alcohol: Strongly linked to esophageal, stomach, and colorectal cancers.
Obesity and Inactivity: Increases the risk of several GI cancers.
Genetic Factors: Family history and hereditary syndromes (e.g., Lynch syndrome, FAP).
Chronic Inflammation: Conditions like ulcerative colitis and Crohn’s disease.
Infections: Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) for stomach cancer, Hepatitis B/C for liver cancer.
Age: Risk increases significantly with age, especially after 50.
